Leadership in Uncertain Times

Unless you’re living under a rock you will know that the decisions made in USA recently will likely affect the global economy for the foreseeable future. Whether you import/export or not, the flow on impact will be real and the biggest casualty will be certainty. We saw this in covid and then when interest rates were high; people and businesses are much less likely to buy when things are uncertain.

There is an old saying that says ask five economists for their views and you will get six different views… right now it seems that all five are in agreement that change is in the air.  That is in itself pretty scary!

There are lots of things to do but from my experience what’s needed in uncertain and difficult times is great leadership.  Like it or not your people are looking to you for leadership like never before.  What is a great leader?

  • Every time you have a conversation with them, they feel unstoppable.
  • Every time you walk away from a meeting with your people, they feel like a fire is lit inside them reminding them of their strength.
  • It’s not about control. It’s about lifting people up.

It’s about being the reason someone feels, braver, more capable and less alone.

Here are some ways to be that Leader:
1. Listen like you mean it; make people feel seen, heard, and valued. Be present with mind and body.
2. Spark belief; remind them of their greatness, even when they forget. Don’t take it for granted.
3. Lead with hope; when things get tough, show them what’s still possible. Your people need your safety.
4. Trust loudly; give people space to rise, and watch them thrive. Create more leaders.
5. Care deeply; be the leader who puts people first. Discuss, share, be warm.

The best leaders don’t just leave an impression. They leave people better, stronger, more confident, unstoppable. Make your leadership about them, not yourself.

As usual if you want help with any of this or with your business then I am a phone, call, txt, email away.  Don’t wait until it is too late to make changes.

Go well
